Helping Hatian Village of Carcasse
Our Lady of Fatima Council (#6901), Barnesville, Maryland, partnered with their local parish of St. Mary's Church, is engaged in a long term project to improve the village of Carcasse, Haiti. Carcasse is a small village on the extreme western edge of the island of Hispanola, just over 200 miles west of Port-au-Prince. This village receives no government services of any kind, so charitable donations are extremely beneficial.
Charitable
work over the past year and a half includes construction of a school which also
serves as a hurricane shelter, installation of Internet services to permit
communications with the World, and implementation of reliable renewable energy
sources (solar panels).
The village of Carcasse had no infrastructure of any kind. Most homes in the area consist of thatch roofs and dirt floors. Imagine enduring a hurricane in these huts! These 350 families now have a solid start on the school/shelter, electrical power, and Internet communications. Shown below are examples of the installation of electrical wiring, lighting and fans.

The next step of the project is to complete the school building and hire a teaching staff. The addition of metal doors and windows will greatly increase the safety and security of the families of Carcasse. Our Lady of Fatima Council of the Knights of Columbus continue to support this charitable work. If you'd like to assist, please send your generous donation to: St. Mary's Church, P.O. Box 67, Barnesville, MD 20838 and write 'Haiti Fund' in the memo line of your check.
Thank you for your charitable service, Brother Knights!
